The first movement of the work contains many stylistic elements from "Minimal Music," demonstrating that the horn is a virtuoso solo instrument par excellence, while the lyrical characteristics are expressed in the ensuing Andante. Through swinging time signatures and highly romantic tonalities, the tone artist brings listeners into tender rapture, even inviting them to daydream. In the ensuing Presto, the previously presented themes first return solo, then the piece ends with an overwhelming final furioso in the entire tutti orchestra. As the core idea of the instrumentation, Fritz Neuböck contrasts the solo instrument horn with all conceivable orchestral sections. Thus woodwinds, brass, percussion and a big band alternately play the accompaniment, always seasoned with assurance by the harp, piano and double bass.
