RIMSKYS-HORNS, YOUR HORN EXPERT !
Eric Borninkhof of Rimskys-Horns is the authority on new and used horns. He has performed music at the highest level for many years, including with the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Radio Symphony Orchestra. For over 25 years, he has been advising fellow horn players on choosing their ideal instrument. Whether a professional musician or an amateur, Eric knows how to find the right horn for everyone and for every budget, even if it requires an extensive search.

Hundreds of horn players worldwide, from Norway to New Zealand and from Maastricht to Den Helder, have gone before you and return regularly for upgrades, including trade-ins at market prices of their old horns. Top brands such as Gebr. Alexander, Paxman, Engelbert Schmid, Ricco Kühn, Yamaha, Jungwirth, Finke, as well as any other brand of your preference, can be supplied by Rimskys-Horns. Whether you are looking for a natural horn, triple horn, or Viennese horn, anything is possible. In short, Rimskys-Horns has a large and changing selection of quality new and used horns.

In addition to extensive professional knowledge, Rimskys-Horns distinguishes itself with its excellent service, even after purchase. This way you can go for (annual) maintenance and repairs. A replacement horn is available for you upon consultation. Rimskys-Horns is always ready in an emergency, for repairs (even on location in consultation) or immediate delivery of a replacement instrument. Fitting a suitable mouthpiece is also part of Rimskys-Horns’ service.

Special: Due to the warm ties with Gebr. Alexander and the close collaboration with Dr. Horn (Hans Herrmann, former head of sales), you can select your new horn on site in Mainz together with Rimskys-Horns. And of course, Rimskys-Horns has a wide range of high-quality accessories, such as sturdy fiberglass horn cases/gig bags, mutes, mouthpieces, and all kinds of maintenance products.

About me
Hello, I’m Eric Borninkhof (1966). I founded Rimskys-Horns in 1994 (Chamber of Commerce registration in 2012) because I enjoy nothing more than finding the right horn for every horn player, from beginner to professional. I have been working on this full-time since 2017. I have also been a horn consultant for Gebr. Alexander Mainz for many years.

I gained my first experiences as a horn player as a 9-year-old with the Royal Almelose Harmonie. And then I was sold: I wanted to become a musician. After the Conservatory in Enschede and The Hague, I obtained my DM diploma and UM diploma in Maastricht with Prof. Erich Penzel. This was followed by a study with Prof. Günther Högner in Vienna (former Solo horn player at the Vienna Philharmonic). I attended masterclasses with Hermann Baumann, Peter Damm, and William (Bill) Vermeulen (Solo Horn, Houston Symphony Orchestra).

In 2013, I obtained the Horn Maintenance & Repair Certificate – Gebr. Alexander, Mainz to expand my service options as a repairer.
